Eat This Yum Spiced Caramel Pear Jam
This richly-spiced pear jam is a seasonal favorite from Pennsylvania jam purveyors Eat This Yum. Cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and subtle hints of caramel amplify and complement the pear’s natural sweetness; lemon juice adds a hint of acidity for balance. But its silky texture is what really sets this stuff apart from other pear spreads and butters we’ve tried: There are no chunks of crunchy, undercooked fruit to be found, and there’s just enough pectin to keep it spreadable—not overly thick. It’s basically apple pie filling you can spread on toast—if you swapped the apples for pears, of course.
Net Weight/Volume: 7 ounces
Ingredients: Pears, Organic Sugar, Lemon Juice, Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Pectin and Sea Salt
Place of Origin: Bucks County, Pennsylvania
How to Use: This spiced pear jam pairs well with cheese, especially double-cream brie, anything blue and funky or our personal pick, Vermont Creamery’s soft, mixed-milk Cremont. It’s delicious when dolloped on ice cream or spread on pancakes, waffles and croissants. You can even use it to fill crêpes and thumbprint or sandwich cookies.
Giving Back with Every Jar
Five percent of Eat This Yum’s proceeds go directly to supporting volunteer firefighters in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Owner Gino De Schrijver is giving back to the community where he got his start: He’s a firefighter himself at Delaware Valley Volunteer Fire Co. and first hocked his seasonal jams and spreads at local farmers markets.
